“While I’m gone, Gansey said, pausing, “dream me the world. Something new for every night.”
(The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, Book 2), by Maggie Stiefvater)
A very good friend of mine (who we shall call R) has been reading Maggie Stiefvater’s Raven Cycle series at my request. This has prompted several conversations about romance in YA literature, time travel, and dreaming. This weekend’s topic was what amazing creations we’d pull out of our dreams if we could. R is a chef, so the discussion quickly turned to food… and as we tossed around our dream food ideas, R came up with something brilliant:
Take a block of cheese. Wrap a piece of chicken around it, and then wrap a piece of bacon around that. Dip in waffle batter. Deep fry.
And because this is one dream that can actually exist, R spent her afternoon in her kitchen. We may not be Greywarens, but we’re pretty freakin’ awesome at making our dreams become reality, if I do say so myself! Happy Sunday Funday, everyone!
(I wanted to call it a heart-attack-on-a-stick, but R vetoed that name. Whatever you want to call it, we both agreed that it was delicious. Also, I ate like six of these things, don’t judge me!)
