“The Lunar Chronicles” Read Along: Cinder, Week One

IMG_6075

My best friend invited me out on the boat this weekend for some snorkeling and relaxing. We went to a nearby island, where they proceeded to jump in the water while I hung out on the boat, kicked my feet up, and started on my read-along of Cinder. (I don’t swim. I know, I live on the ocean, but I just really don’t like fish and sharks and who knows what else!)

I’m not very far into it yet, but I’m already enjoying this new spin on the Cinderella story. Cinder as a cyborg is mildly interesting; Cinder as a badass mechanic with a built-in lie-detector test and whose best friend is an android is absolutely awesome! There’s already some great characterization being established, and I have a feeling that the background plot with the plague is going to play a very important role pretty soon.

I’m trying to read slowly, so I can pause to blog my thoughts throughout the month… we’ll see how it goes! I’m generally one to gobble a good book down as soon as I lay hands on it, but I’m putting post-it flags in Cinder to make sure I space it out evenly.

But I’m definitely loving it so far!

It’s not too late to join in the read-along! You can check out all of the details over at The Book Addict’s Guide.

The read along will span from August 1 – December 7, 2015. Readers will be allotted four weeks to read each book. Here is the schedule for each book:

CINDER: August 1 – August 31
SCARLET: September 1 – September 30
CRESS: October 1 – October 31
WINTER: November 10 – December 7
