Blurb:

Honestly, I’m ready to take a step back from the Subs Club. Making the kink world a safer place for subs is the sort of bandwagon I’d have boarded as an idealist in my early twenties, but now I’m a pragmatist in my late twenties.  I prefer to focus on adopting and raising a child.

But unexpected factors inevitably derail my plans. Like Drix Seger—attractive and the first genuine sadist I’ve encountered. If I were not in the process of renouncing my masochistic ways and becoming the normal, responsible potential father the adoption agency wants to see, Drix and I might do well together.

But he has a foolish name and belongs to a cult of vampyres, and I am quitting kink. So why does Drix’s infatuation with blood and biting make me so hot I can’t think straight? And why, when he looks at me, does he seem to see something beyond a basket case with a stick up my ass?

Can I start a new phase in my life without leaving part of myself behind? Please send help.

—Miles

My Review:

If you’re looking for a book with fascinating characters and super hot, kinky sex, you definitely can’t go wrong if J.A. Rock’s name is on the cover. After reading The Subs Club, I had a feeling that this series was going to become one of my all-time favorites, and Pain Slut is definitely confirming that suspicion!

Miles is the Responsible One in his group of friends; he owns his own company, has a house, and has been working for years to adopt a child. But he’s also an extreme masochist.

There’s something profoundly delightful about a character who wears sweater vests and acts like a grumpy old man, but who begs to be beaten, whipped, and sliced open. J.A. really does a great job of showing Miles’ thought process, the way the pain wraps around him and transforms into something pure. And the way he interacts with his group of friends was hilarious!

And I really, really loved Drix, the vampyre (with a y!) whose sense of humor and laid-back view of the world might just be the one thing that can get Miles to unwind a bit. They balance each other out, two men who would be ridiculed by the rest of the world but who complement one another perfectly.

Another fabulous (and fabulously kinky) book in the Subs Club series! If you loved The Subs Club, you should absolutely go pre-order Pain Slut… it has all of the humor and kink of the first book, but Miles is such a fascinating, complex, and interesting character.

I can’t wait for the second half of the quartet, and a chance to see more of the boys!!

    • I hope you enjoy them all! I almost wish I’d waited until all four were out to read them, because the first two connect so well, and I assume the other two will also. But now I’m just making grabby hands at the computer and waiting for Book 3 to come out.
