Love cooking?  Love reality shows? Love reality shows about cooking? Then this might just be the book for you. The story revolves around a brand new reality show where the winning contestant is given the opportunity to become the personal chef for the drummer of a famous rock band. It features plenty of behind the scenes reality show intrigue, a developing romance between a judge and a contestant and descriptions of some tasty (and not-so-tasty) kitchen concoctions that anyone with even a passing interest in cooking should enjoy.

Wyatt Parker is the big, burly owner of his own construction firm. Long hours spent on the job means he spends too much time making meals for himself and not enough time looking for a partner to share his delicious home cooking with. When the opportunity arises to meet the sexy drummer of his favourite rock band, he jumps at the chance. Wyatt isn’t under any illusions about winning the ultimate prize – personal chef to the delectable Tully Randolph – he’s just looking for a chance to spend some time in Tully’s presence. But when he catches Tully’s eye, he has to decide between winning the competition oor winning Tully’s heart because it doesn’t appear as if he can have both.

Tully Randolph should be on top of the world. He’s the drummer in a rock band that has hit the big time and he never lacks for any company between the sheets.  But ever since he lost the most important person in his life, he’s been in too much of a funk to take proper care of himself.  When his best friend talks him into signing on to a new reality show to help him look for a personal chef, he reluctantly opens his home to production staff, cameras and the lucky participants who will be competing for the job. But when the bear of his dreams, home cooking expert Wyatt Parker, is among the competitors, Tully realizes he not only wants Wyatt in his kitchen, he wants him spicing up the bedroom as well.

I thought this was a really cute story. Tully and Wyatt were adorable together and they definitely shared some pretty good chemistry in and out of the kitchen. The reality tv story line was well done but I would have enjoyed reading a little bit more about all the behind-the-scenes maneuvering because despite this being a fictional story about a fictional show, I’m sure there was some truth in how networks sometimes give preference to certain competitors over others. I also would have liked to have seen the other competitors on the show being a little more fleshed out and a little less like caricatures (Pierre specifically).  Overall, Wyatt’s Recipes was a cute quick read. The perfect book for a lazy, Sunday afternoon.

The Thursday Euclid (scientific name T. euclidus) is a strange and elusive creature dwelling in the Texas Gulf Coast region. Frequently mistaken for Bigfoot, Chupacabra, or the monster of the week, T. euclidus is, in fact, a 30-ish black sheep with a penchant for indie music, geekery, and hot and sour soup. With co-author Clancy Nacht, Thursday has published m/m erotic romance novels at Loose Id and Amazon. His first solo project, Asher Beauregard Attempts to Give a Damn, was released in June 2015.

Thursday Euclid is a nom de plume, which you have probably guessed, because nobody has parents awesome enough to name their kid that. If you must call me something more personal, Thurs is fine. People might even think we’re pals! How exciting.
