summary

When CEO Renner Bastion walks into a room, everyone keeps their distance. Well, everyone but the sarcastic, tattooed, Boston-bred security guard whose presence has kept Renner in New Jersey longer than intended. As if the unwanted attraction isn’t unsettling enough, Renner finds out his protector isn’t as unavailable as originally thought.

Milo Bautista just came out to his wealthy, ultra-confident boss, a man he secretly respects and admires…in more ways than he’ll admit. Worldly, experienced Renner would never look in his direction, let alone share some of that confidence he wears like a cloak, so Milo has set his sights on someone else to be his first.

Until Renner offers him private lessons in seduction…

REVIEW

I really needed this!

Wound Tight is the kind of book I need to get me out of a mood, be it a book hangover, a funk, a bad day… if I need something to take me out of real life, this is the kind of book that helps me along.

The book is full of UST like I’ve not read in a long time. It’s thick with it. When either Renner or Milo think about one another, the tension is really there. When they’re in the same room, together? It’s palpable. Their sexual chemistry is really fantastic, so that was a really fun to read and gave me all kinds of feels. The parts where I had problems were mostly with Renner. Frankly, Renner is a jerk and I didn’t like him the entire book.

Milo is very charming, sweet, kind, honorable… everything you’d want in a guy. He’s really too good for Renner so I had a hard time figuring out what he saw in the man. Normally this would mean disaster for me and a book. But somehow I was hooked and I didn’t even realize it. Still, it was probably not until the last 20% of the story that I found myself rooting for these men.

In the end, I did enjoy reading the story, seeing where they went, how their relationship panned out. I think I really liked how angry the story made me. The fact that it made me as angry as it did, mostly because of dear Renner, says a lot. When a book can get strong emotions out of me, good or bad, that’s a good thing. The epilogue takes us to a nice HEA, and in the end, I came to a point where I could tolerate Renner. I’m still not sure he deserves all the chances he’s given, but the hot factor between him and Milo won me over. It’s a fun ride.
