Weekend Getaway, by Tamryn Eradani
Series: Daniel and Ryan, Book 7
Publisher: Ninestar Press
Release Date: August 7, 2017
Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Daniel wants to test his control in a more public setting than he and Ryan have used before. It takes some negotiation, takes some planning, but they make it work.
Ok, we all know this is definitely my favorite series of 2017. I read these the absolute SECOND they arrive on my Kindle. This one though… while still excellent left me with little niggles that I worked through as I drove to Harris Teeter, as one does.
The sex is still hot as hell and the relationship is progressing (at a snail’s pace though). Daniel and Ryan are basically spending every free second they can together, which is mostly on the weekends, but I get it; jobs can be exhausting and not everyone feels particularly kind or sexy after a hard day’s work.
Ryan proposes something new when the book starts, which is taking things OUTSIDE. Now… this is… INTERESTING. But it led to my niggles. Daniel has to work up to it and ultimately decides it’s definitely something he’d like to explore, just not in the town they live in. This is what leads them to taking what ends up being a very memorable weekend getaway, which I did thoroughly enjoy (man I love a run on sentence).
BUT I kept going back to “why wasn’t I as satisfied with this as previous releases,” and I realized it came down to Daniel. He was so concerned someone HE KNEW or HE WORKED WITH would see him and Ryan together, and I don’t know. It didn’t feel about sex to me. It almost felt like… I don’t know, that he would be ashamed for people to know he and Ryan were together. I couldn’t decide if it was because then he’d be forced to have an actual conversation with Ryan about what they were doing. I mean, it’s obvious to anyone reading the series that they are definitely TOGETHER, and not just for sex anymore. I feel like its WAY past time for the two to sit down and discuss where they are in this relationship and how they are going to introduce each other to people should it come up.
One positive is that the book does end with an excerpt for the next book so at least I have that.
Tamryn studied English and Creative Writing in school but has been writing since she could first hold a pencil. Recently, she’s turned her focus towards writing erotica. She enjoys writing stories where sex comes first, then feelings, because doing things out of order can be fun.
Tamryn has spent the past few months writing the Daniel and Ryan series with a lovely view of mountains out her window, and she’s now searching for a new mountain range to serve as her backdrop as she begins her next project.
