Confession time… I’m new to this THIRDS universe. So new that I only read the series a week before I read Tried & True. Since I’m being honest, I’ve had the majority of the the series for a long time, just never got to it. And if I’m really, really being honest, it was at the prompting of two amazing friends that I finally picked it up. I was in a book funk. A rut. Nothing was working, I was waiting on a couple of books that I was desperate for, and I needed something to tide me over.

Enter THIRDS.

Now? I’m a certified THIRDS NERD. How could I not be? I spent a week in this wild world, reading all the books, knowing that I’d have to wait for book 10 and deciding promptly that I was going to sign up for it to review if nobody else had. BECAUSE I COULD NOT WAIT. I needed to get it right away because I got so hooked on this series, so fast. Hooked on this team of fantastic crime fighting and justice (no pun intended) seeking heroes.

So, for the book… I loved it. This reads, to me at least, like a giant Epilogue to the whole series. A way to wrap things up with the core THIRDS Destructive Delta team, before things really change for them all. And whoa, changes are coming. It was also finally time for our favorite heroes Dex and Sloane to get married. First though, they need to catch the bad guy.

I remember while reading how I felt like there was one character that didn’t sit right with me. But then there was someone else I was not sure about. And someone else…. it just kept happening. I love that. The way I was unsure the whole time, skeptical of a lot of people, worried who it was that decided to betray the team and all of the THIRDS. That is to say, great suspense was happening.

But the highlight for me has to be the team itself. The way they all have bonded and really have become this amazing family. Not just Destructive Delta, but members from Theta Destructive, and Therian’s like Zach, Austen, Bradley, as well as a couple extra humans in the mix. This family keeps growing, becoming stronger and stronger, and it’s been a joy to see it all unfold. The healing that’s taken place over the last 9 books really shows in this one. I loved the little moments when they’d spend time together, just hanging out. The sweet moments that were tender, the times when the bromance between Ash and Dex just could not be denied. This book is filled with them. Filled with bonding and love and friendship that can’t ever be broken.

And they do get that wedding. Have no fear! And it’s sappy and tear inducing. Just make sure you have your kleenex because you will cry. Oh yes. You will cry.

What can I say? Honestly, this book was a fantastic wrap up to a series that has apparently passed me by and I’m sad to only now be a part of it… sad that it took me this long to find this family. Thankfully, there will be more. Not the THIRDS we’ve known, but something different. Something bigger and better. I look forward to that next series, to see what happens to this team and how Dex and Sloane work through the next adventures in their lives. And I’m grateful that I can go back and reread all of these books over and over again. I’ll never get enough of this universe but I’m extremely happy in the way that this chapter has ended.

To all the THIRDS NERDS out there, this is a book I know you’ve been waiting for.
